Thesis Statements


1. Joseph Morse’s Multicolored woodcut poster is a great example of modernism due to it’s ability to attain true representation as well.

2. W.J Morgan’s Macbeth Poster represents modernism through it’s use of montage.

3. Morris Pere et Fil’s “Cirque d’hiver” is not modernistic due to it’s  inability to attain true representation.

    Interesting choices. I asked you to stick with 20th century subjects, which would rule these out, wouldn't it? Let me know what you mean by "true representation." Do you mean naturalistic image-making, such as how a photograph looks? Also remember that just because one aspect is modern, other aspects might NOT be considered modern - per Barnard.
